Cape Town – President Cyril Ramaphosa has welcomed a judgment by the Constitutional Court affirming his adherence to due process and fairness in suspending Public Protector Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane.
The suspension followed the decision by the National Assembly to institute Section 194 proceedings against Advocate Mkhwebane
The Constitutional Court, in a unanimous ruling, found that the president had rational reasons for the suspension and that he had nothing to gain personally from it.
This decision overturned a previous judgment by the Western Cape High Court, which had deemed Ramaphosa’s suspension of Mkhwebane unlawful and invalid in September of the previous year.
