Cape Town – Government and organised business have agreed to collaborate in order to promote inclusive economic growth and job creation.
In a joint statement on Wednesday, the Presidency along with apex business organisation Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) and Business for South Africa (B4SA), agreed to work together in partnership, with appropriate engagement and oversight structures, to actively work towards removing the obstacles.
CEOs of major companies in South Africa pledged to contribute their skills and resources to address key priorities.
The immediate focus areas are energy, transport and logistics, and crime and corruption.

“This initiative will make a real and marked difference in rebuilding our economy and setting it on a path of sustained inclusive growth.
“It is driven by a shared determination to overcome the severe challenges we currently face and to mobilise the country’s substantial capabilities towards the achievement of that goal.
“We welcome this commitment from business and undertake as Government to work to ensure the success of this partnership,” President Cyril Ramaphosa said.
The collaboration will be facilitated through various committees and overseen by a Joint Strategic Operations Committee.
The meeting is attended by CEOs of major companies and representatives from Discovery, BUSA, Anglo American SA, SASOL, Remgro, Standard Bank, Nedbank, Exxaro, Toyota SA, Business Leadership, SA, Energy Council South Africa, Rothschild and Co, B4SA Steerco and Cap Africa Group. pic.twitter.com/hSQyLKdzUi
